Audioslave - Audioslave (2002)

I've not listened to this album since the year it came out. I've really not missed much. Yes, they have massive riffs and Tom Morello's guitar squalling and warping all over the place. Chris Cornell does some excellent wailing that would make any Soundgarden album proud. But together, the sounds never really work on this first album.
I had to buy this album. For the same reason that at that time in my life I had to buy pretty much every album I became aware of. Yet this offered great promise: Rage + Soundgarden. Apparently it worked amazingly well live. I've heard the follow up album(s?) are far better. But this never really earned repeated listens and has ever since sat as a reminder in the A pile of my collection.
Audioslave is a pretty rubbish name too. (But then so is Soundgarden and almost every other band name I can think of). I think I'm going to go back to their respective bands and wash my ears out.
